Contre toute attente, le projet rencontre un succès fulgurant (70000 exemplaires vendus) et impose le pianiste italien en figure majeure de la scène musicale internationale. Porté par cet élan, Giovanni reçoit en 2002 la Victoire du Jazz et le Django d’Or.
Indisponible à la vente, le disque n’a pourtant jamais cessé d’exister, d’être transmis et demandé.
25 ans après la naissance (et la disparition) de cet album mythique, Giovanni Mirabassi revisite enfin ces compositions avec l’expérience, la maturité et la technique qu’il avait toujours envisagées. “Più Avanti!”, c’est le chef d’oeuvre d’une vie construite par la résilience. “Je devais continuer, pour la beauté du geste !”
In 2001, Giovanni Mirabassi fulfilled a teenage dream: to reinterpret the revolutionary songs that had marked his life. With “Avanti!”, alone at his piano, the artist signed the manifesto of his career.
Against all odds, the project was a resounding success (70,000 copies sold) and established the Italian pianist as a major figure on the international music scene. Buoyed by this momentum, Giovanni received the Victoire du Jazz and the Django d'Or awards in 2002.
Although unavailable for sale, the album never ceased to exist, to be passed on and requested.
